I work with people through depression, quieting anxiety, smoothing relationships, improving communication, and navigating life transitions.
Sometimes people feel uncomfortable or frustrated that life is not moving in a positive direction. If that is the case for you, talking to a trained and independent counsellor can lead to insight and the discovery of options you didn't know you had.
If your life seems out of control because of anger, addiction - of any kind, or aggression in your relationship or in general, we may be able to work together to make it better.
Working together we can find healthy ways of coping with stress, resolving distress, or developing a more satisfying life.
The foundation of my clinical practice is a strong "therapeutic relationship". Your experience takes center stage, and together we clarify your counselling goals. I encourage - and even challenge - my clients within a safe and respectful environment.
My practice is oriented to change. People sometimes want to change patterns of behavior, or patterns of thoughts, or of emotion. My clinical foundation is client centered: compassionate and curious engagement. Interventions to support a client's progress may come from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness practice, systems or feminist theories.
