Depression
Low energy? Flat mood and a lack of interest in the things that you used to enjoy? Do you generally have a vague or pronounced sense of guilt; trouble concentrating; no initiative? Are you feeling sad or empty; restless or irritable; hopeless or pessimistic? Are you emotionally numb? Does everything seem like more effort than it is worth? Have you felt like you are being punished?
Depression is remarkably common. Major depressive episodes can be both debilitating and hard to shake. The sooner signs of depression are noticed and addressed the sooner you will regain the life you are missing. Many people do work through their depression and/or find ways of living fulfilling lives even if they periodically are visited by depressive episodes. I emphasize to people that if you are noticing any of the signs of depression, and you are thinking “should I get help?”, this is the time to follow through.
